Deep Dive at historic Preston Mill!

We recently paid a visit to one of our all time favourite Outlander Season 1 locations, at historic Preston Mill! We had a we explore and produced our latest Outlander On Location video, on our YouTube Channel, which you can view below!

Outlander fans will recall that this is where Jamie attempts to fix the stuck water wheel at Lallybroch by diving under the water to try and find out the cause of the malfunction. While he is submerged in the water, a Redcoat patrol rides by Claire and Jenny, who are anxiously waiting for Jamie to appear.

Some of you out there may not know that this location was also used in a small section of Claire and Geillis' witchcraft trial. We all remember the immortal BBQ line, wonderfully delivered by Geillis after their chat with Ned Gowan in the ante room of the Cranesmuir courtroom. This memorable scene was filmed in some of the out-buildings that are attached to lovely Preston Mill.

Its a truly beautiful place and is one of the quieter Outlander TV Series locations that fans can visit. It is preserved and operated by the heritage heroes of the National Trust for Scotland and for those who would like to help preserve this site and other important historic locations in Scotland, you can support their great work by clicking here.
